Jim Zumbo is holding one of the most famous firearms in the world.
It’s a .270 that was owned by legendary shooting writer Jack O’Connor who single-handedly propelled the caliber into the limelight through his stories in Outdoor Life magazine. He has been known as the champion of the .270.
Jim Carmichel took O’Connor’s place when he retired and Zumbo eventually shared the columns with Carmichel.
Jim lives in northwest Wyoming with his wife, Madonna, their three Labrador Retrievers and one cat. Jim relates that a long bus ride cross country from his home in upstate New York to the University where he studied forestry changed his life. When he looked out the window of the bus at sunrise and saw buttes, sagebrush and antelope he knew he’d find a way to live in Wyoming. He has now been a proud resident for 40 years.
